Recording for Restore NYC

It's been a while since I've been in a studio.  Last time I was there (sophomore of college) I was recording my own songs, but this time I went to take photos.  It was of a group of insanely talented musicians were making a record for Restore NYC.  The day I went,  Zach Williams and Eric Marshall from The Last Royals were laying down background vocals for a couple tracks at Mike Beck's studio down in Brooklyn.  I loved taking photos of something so familiar to me.  As they went through the loving grind of multiple takes and debates of what was the best way to sing a particular line, the nostalgia of it all hit me like a wave.

Carnegie Ensemble

A friend of mine from college is an amazing violinist that comes from a family of amazing musicians.  And the Kwak family is doing amazing things with their gifts.  In 2008, her father founded the Carnegie Ensemble where he is the musical director and where my friend is a principle violinist.

They asked me to take some photos of their concert last month at Lincoln Center.  Having took violin lessons when I was younger but not being able to improve any more after a certain point, I picked up guitar instead.  But I still appreciate great musicianship, especially classical music.
