Favorite Images of 2011

Going through all the photos from the past year, I still remember how each wedding felt: the mood of the day, the energy amongst the friends and family. Each couple had their own story, their own rhythm; all unique, beautiful, and honest.

And now looking back, I'm excited to look ahead. There are more wonderful moments to capture this year.  I'm going to be invited all over the world to be a witness, a witness to two people who admit that with each other there's more strength, more courage, more hope than if they were alone.  I'm invited to be a witness to friends and family reuniting, celebrating, and pouring their blessings out to two people they love so much.

It's a privilege that I don't take lightly and a responsibility that isn't burdensome. Rather, I am humbled and grateful.

Thank you for an amazing past year, and happy new year to the one ahead.

I'm glad that photos can say a thousand words, because I don't know where to start to talk about the amazing couples I've met this year.  It's been a privilege to get to know you, your story, and to see the love you have for each other.  Thank you for trusting and inviting me to be there to capture your weddings, your engagement, and your proposals.

When the three of us first met over coffee last year, we talked about how they met and their relationship till then.  One thing that they said has stuck with me till now:

"We knew we were meant to be after we survived through some hard times in our relationship.  It happened 12 months into our relationship and then 6 months later.  During those times, we really didn't think we'd be able to make it, but we did and now we know we want to be together for the rest of our lives."

That stuck with me because they were honest.  Because it's not only the good times that makes you right for each other, but how you handle the bad and worst times.  And also because the relationships sold to us on TV and movies, are completely different from the ones that we experience in our lives.  Being a part of Cheryl & Joe's day, it was refreshing to see that they knew what it meant to be together: to love each other unconditionally.
