One-on-one work for people who grew up in the church

and are reckoning with how it shaped them

Ways of being and thinking are formed in us in the first years of our lives. If you grew up in the church, so much of that formation happened there. Not just what we were taught to believe, but how we learned to relate to ourselves, our work, and the people around us. Some of what was formed in us was good. But a lot of it taught us to perform, to earn, to feel like something is fundamentally broken and needs saving.

You may have done the work since then. Read the books, gone to therapy, built a meditation practice. And still something underneath hasn't shifted. Something older than the burnout. Deeper than the patterns you've already named. A part of you that's still performing, still trying to become enough.

I've found that most work like this starts with the same assumption the church gave us: that something is wrong with you and needs to be fixed. Our work doesn’t focus on what's broken, but with what's already here. Because what if nothing is broken? What would it look like when the performing stops and we give attention and love to what we’re trying to hide?

Katie, Founder of Bachmeyer Press

“As a mother of three kids 6 and under, and with a husband in medical school, Minnow looks at the heavy lifting I must do as a business owner and helps me figure out smart and intentional ways to lighten the load.

His ability to sift through and clarify my thoughts while providing actionable insights to move forward with is truly invaluable.”

Todd, Marketer and Writer

“Talking with Minnow keeps my focus sharp and my vision clear. He steers me away from the shallow whirlpool of vanity measurements and leads me into the depths of what is truly possible. He is a lighthouse that keeps me from being dragged under by the waves of mediocre work, the sirens of cheap clicks.

It's safe to say that without his guiding glow, I would feel more than a little lost.”

Our time together isn’t therapy. It isn’t spiritual direction, nor is it coaching if you're expecting a neat ten-step plan. In practice, we slow down and be with whatever comes up in the present moment. We pay attention to the body. We sit with what surfaces without rushing to fix it, and we let what’s been held for years finally move.

Sometimes what surfaces is the past. Your faith, your upbringing, the tradition that shaped you. Sometimes it's present. How you're relating to your work, your creativity, the people closest to you. Often it's both, because the patterns formed in us early don't stay in the past. They show up in how we lead, how we rest, how we love, how we let ourselves be loved.

Whatever you're carrying, the anger, the grief, the gratitude, the confusion, we can hold it here. None of it needs to be resolved for us to begin.

I grew up in a 3,500-member Korean immigrant church and gave my life to Jesus in the third grade by reciting the sinner's prayer and asking Him to make me a good person. I spent years building a theological certainty that could explain the mysteries and uncertainties I was facing. Life kept breaking that certainty down until it came apart and left me with something quieter, deeper, and nearer than the God I met as a child. Faith that dropped from my head into my body. A presence closer and gentler than anything I'd been taught.

Grace, Founder of PX Coaching

“After working with Minnow for the past 6 months, I can honestly say that I would not be where I am in terms of a positive mindset, reachable goals, heightened confidence, clarity about my brand, and a detailed path to grow my business.

Minnow's ability to not only listen to your words, but to also access the feelings and thoughts behind your words is a skill very few people possess.”

Niki, Founder of BK Tees

"I started working with Minnow at a career crossroads. The combination of his relentless encouragement and acuity opened so many doors for me at a time when I felt unsure and confused about what step to take next.

Each session is a journey of self that Minnow distills into a clear, actionable plan full of insights that unlock possibilities for your future."

Who I’ve Helped

I've spent several years working with founders, creatives, and professionals navigating transitions they didn't plan for, many of them carrying questions about faith they've never said out loud. I've trained in the Aletheia method, integrating parts work, somatic modalities, and contemplative practices. I come from the same tradition most of my clients are reckoning with.

  • Esther, a founder launching a DTC brand for women's health.

  • John, Michele, and Todd, industry experts launching newsletters to share their knowledge.

  • Katie, a filmmaker and storyteller refocusing their service offerings and business model.

  • Travis and Wesley, photographers reimagining their business to align with their vision and most important work.

  • Leyla, an education leader helping schools understand how to help their students using data.

How We’ll Work Together

We meet every other week for 50 minutes. Most people work with me for three to six months, though there's no fixed program. We follow what unfolds. Between sessions, I may offer simple practices, breathing, body awareness, a way of paying attention, depending on what’s alive.

I'd love to chat with you and see if this is what you've been looking for.
